Magnesium Ribbon Anode

Magnesium anodes have the highest protection capability of any galvanic material. While these anodes are most commonly used in a cast form, certain structures can be better protected through the use of extruded magnesium configurations. Extruded magnesium anodes are most suitable for cathodic protection of steel structures buried or immersed in high resistivity electrolytes. As a flexible anode material, our magnesium ribbon anode consists of an extruded ribbon of magnesium around a central continuous galvanized steel core which ensures uniform current and efficient electrical discharge. Due to the ribbon’s greater surface area to weight ratio, magnesium ribbon anode can provide higher current outputs compared to other magnesium anodes. This magnesium ribbon anode is generally used in higher resistivity soil or freshwater, particularly in areas with restricted space. It is often used to achieve cathodic protection of well coated buried pipelines, pipelines in casings, crossing pipe sections, internal water tanks surfaces and as grounding protection against strong electrical interference, among other areas.
